Amritsar

Amritsar is home to one of the most popular pilgrim spots of the Sikh community, The Golden Temple. The city also boasts of historical brilliance. Jallianwala Bagh is a must visit place in Amritsar for those who are fascinated by the history. The history of the Bagh narrated the brutal story where around 1100 innocent people were killed on 13th April 1919. The place still features the traces of history which bullet marks engraved in its walls. The martyr's gallery located in the complex shows portraits of freedom fighters associated with this place.
Wagah Border is another must visit spot in Amritsar. It is the only road border crossing between India and Pakistan and located at a distance of around 30 km from the Golden Temple. Every evening, hundreds of locals and travellers visit the international border separating India and Pakistan to witness the royal changing of guards along with hoisting of the national flags.
