Ziro

The headquarters of Lower Subansiri District, Ziro is a beautiful hill station with lush green forest, rivulets and elevated patches. Nestled beautifully in the forbidding mountain-scape of Arunachal Pradesh, Ziro is majorly inhabited by the Apatani tribe, and wears a celebratory look during the festivals celebrated by the Apatani people. Attractions

One of the leading attractions of Ziro is the Talley Valley Wildlife Sanctuary. It is home to various endangered species. With lush green forests that enjoy a much less human intervention, the sanctuary boasts of a wide range of flora and fauna. Silver fir trees, orchids, stunning ranges of bamboo and ferns are some of the trees found here. Talley Valley Wildlife Sanctuary is called Bio-diversity zone.

Another popular attraction is the Meghna Cave Temple, which is a must visit tourist spot in Ziro. Dating back to 5000, the cave temple was rediscovered in the year 1962. Offering a stunning view of the surrounding area, the Meghna Cave Temple is located at an altitude of 300 feet. With its majestic mountains and dense forests, the cave temple offers a wonderful experience to the visitors.

A famous hillock where independent India's first administrative centre was established, Ziro Puto is one of the many popular attractions in Ziro. The place is also known as Army Puto, as army cantonment was established here during the 1960's. One can also enjoy spectacular views of Apatani plateau from the hillock.

Dolo Mando is another famous hillock situated west of Ziro. It attracts tourists in great numbers as old Ziro and the town Hapoli views from the hilltop are spectacular. Trekking on the hill is one exciting thing that you can try here.

Weather in Ziro
There is no fixed climatic condition of Ziro, and it varies from season to season. The climate of the place is dependent on the terrain and the location, but it's flocked by tourists throughout the year. The months of October and November are the period of transition. However, throughout the year relative humidity is high except in winter.

By Air: The nearest airport to Ziro is in Jorhat, Assam. The nearest international airport of Ziro is at Guwahati at a distance of about 449 kms.

By Rail: The nearest railway stations from Ziro are at Naharalagun (100 kms) and North Lakhimpur (117 kms).

By Road: The bus, operated by the Arunachal Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation runs four days a week.
