Nature enthusiasts can visit the Mawphlang Sacred Forest. It is home to a sacred to a sacred plant grove of the Khasi Tribe. The forest is full of medicinal plants, and the tribe members also perform animal sacrifices and burn the bodies of their death inside. The David Scott trail from Maphlang to Lad Mawphlang is another famous attraction, and is part of an old horse trail dating back to the British Era.

The climate of Meghalaya varies with the altitude. It is neither too warm in summer nor too cold in winter, but over the plains of Garo Hills, the climate is warm and humid, except in winter. Meghalaya can be visited any time of the year due to its pleasant weather throughout the year.

How to reach
By Air - Guwahati Airport is the nearest airport connecting Meghalaya to the outer world. From Shillong there are state transport buses from the Police Bazaar stand every half hour to Guwahati and Silchar.

By Rail - The nearest railway station is Guwahati Railway Station, which is well connected to the rest of the country.
